Acceptable Use Policy
Rules of Conduct
For Users
* No mass inviting, advertising or spamming.
* No evading channel or network bans.
* No loading excessive clones.
* No denial of service attacks on users or the network.
* No harmful clients (Compromised Hosts, Warez, Etc) or other hostile bots on our network.
* Do not allow bots under your control to break any of these rules.
We do not automatically monitor the content of conversation or file transfer in order to enforce these policies, however if we become aware of breaches of our policy then we will take action.
The above actions are subject to warning, /kill or /kline. Repeat offenses may result in nick or channel suspension/loss. Severe cases may also be reported to the offender's ISP.
Opers will be there to help you, but if you abuse staff they may well /ignore you, or abuse you right back. Staff who are busy may direct you to #help. If there is nobody available in #lobby or #help, you can contact admin@cybersmash.net
For IRC Operators
* The same rules for users also apply to IRC Operators.
* Do not interfere with channel management:
o Flooders can be dealt with by channel ops.
o Don't use your o-line or services abilities to manipulate a channel unless you are doing so to prevent abuse (make sure you have logs to support such usage!)
o If services are down and a channel owner requests ops, but you don't know anyone who is on the access list then ask advice from fellow IRC Operators.
* You are expected to help users and respond to polite requests for help:
o If you are too busy, direct them to #lobby.
o You do not have to take abuse from users, but do not use your o-line or services access to "get revenge".
* You are expected to take an active part in managing the network:
o As a IRC Operator you should familiarise yourself with the proper routing of servers, in order to help the network recover from splits.
* You will behave professionally in network channels:
o Our only network-owned channel is #lobby (others may be founded in the future). In network-owned channels you will not abuse users in any way. Abusive users will be banned and you will be expected to /ignore them.
* You will behave professionally on other networks:
o If it is brought to our attention that you have brought our network into disrepute by e.g. mass advertising us on another network, you may be subject to disciplinary action.
* Promote the network:
o Bring users, make us noticed, anyhow and anyway you can (besides spamming!)
Acceptable Use Policy
By connecting to the network you agree to the following terms and conditions
Introduction
This Acceptable Use Policy governs the use of the CyberSmash Internet Relay Chat Network (the Network or the Services) by you, including but not limited to, its forums, IRC servers, websites, and e-mail services. By using this service, you are implicitly stating that you have read and understood this document and agree to all the terms and conditions contained herein. NOT reading this AUP is NOT an excuse for not following it!
CyberSmash is a privately owned and operated network. As such, CyberSmash staff and administration reserve the right to deny anyone access at any time, without advanced warning and without being under any obligation to provide a reason. Where a reason is provided, it is done so at the discretion of CyberSmash. Your actions relate to your personality on IRC, if you choose to be a large disruption, chances are we'll remove you. If you choose to be a respectful chatter, you'll be treated as a respectful chatter and given the same courtesy.
Connections & Proxy Policy
The use of open proxies including TOR is prohibited. The usage of open proxies will be considered evasion, any attempts to connect using open proxies will result in an immediate ban. Bouncers (BNC's) are allowed for anonymity, but in the event that it is abused, that privilege will be revoked. You are limited to 3 connections per IP address, including IRC clients and friendly bots.
Harassment & Abuse
IRC in general is an unmoderated medium and the Network Administration is not responsible for the traffic passing through its servers. The Network staff do not interfere channel matters and are not responsible for anything occurring in unofficial channels, unless it violates this Acceptable Use Policy. Harassment includes, but is not limited to: flooding of channels or clients, spamming or mass advertising of channels, websites and other IRC networks, Denial of Service attacks and threats of the same. Personal harassment, where it is accompanied by evidence, will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
Channel founders will enforce their own policies on harassment. Channel affairs such as this may result in local channel action, at the channel founders discretion. If the offender has been warned and the problem continues, it can be brought to the Network Administration. Depending on the severity of the harassment, a temporary ban may be applied, or in lesser cases the user may be temporarily frozen. Any activities which jeopardize the rights of other users, or the existence or functionality of CyberSmash as a whole, are prohibited.
Absolutely no mass advertising, whether by /notice, by /msg, or any other medium. Channels relating to adult sexual topics MUST remain set to +s (secret) mode at all times. Sex-oriented channels relating to minors are absolutely forbidden.
Illegal Activity
Threats of Denial of Service attacks targeting the Network will be taken seriously and will be reported to the proper authorities. The discussion of any illegal activity and/or illegal trading of copyrighted files is expressly prohibited, this includes but is not limited to: the sharing of copyrighted material (where the owner has not waived copyright, or where the owner has not agreed to its distribution) including: pirated software (warez) and pirated music, channels for discussing illegal activity, including but not limited to: cracking and the trading of software serial numbers. The distribution of child pornography is prohibited.
Use of Services
CyberSmash has several services designed to assist IRC users including NickServ, ChanServ and MemoServ. These services may not be used in any way that adversely affects CyberSmash or its users, this includes but is not limited to the cracking of users' passwords, the registration of nicknames or channels for the sole purpose of preventing others from registering them (nick/channel squatting) and flooding services.
Breaches of this policy
If you believe someone is in violation of this AUP, please contact admin@cybersmash.net immediately.
Other Policies
#lobby Policy
lobby is pretty much an anything-goes channel, but there are three rules that we do enforce:
* No scrolling (lines repeated over and over)
* No racism or other harmful forms of discrimination
* For ops: No kicking anyone without a justifiable reason
